Many say that the migration from 2D to 3D was also epoch making. When you play games, you can first-handedly see that the expression has become much richer, which expanded the scope of the game genres, which also meant an expansion of the player base.

The image also played a key role. This may be associated with Sony's brand image, and the games were no longer toys just for kids. Games were perceived as entertainment enjoyable by adults, or something cool, and drew a lot of attention from a technology point of view. This trend is more evident in the European/US market, but such image was effective in broadening the market both for the publishers and the players. This is Sony's continuous innovation, and this was the war that was fought.
